About Issyk-Kul

Issyk-Kul is one of the largest alpine lakes in the world, ringed by the Kungey and Terskey Ala-Too ranges. Around it are red-rock canyons, gorges, hot springs and the town of Karakol — a good add-on to a mountain trip or a relaxed stop on the way east.

Getting There

Issyk-Kul is reached via the Bishkek–Balykchy road along either the northern or southern shore, both scenic drives of half a day.
